On 21 November, with 5 hours of live streaming from BASE Milan comes the first Italian edition of the United We Stream platform. The first event will be Queercheck, a series of live-streamed DJ sets celebrating queerness, diversity and inclusion, organised by IED in collaboration with Linecheck and the global Keychange network. 

United We Stream is a platform set up to broadcast live streams from the big clubs on the Berlin music scene, launched in response to the Covid-19 shutdowns. Queercheck, the first event in the Italian iteration of UWS – United We Stream Milano, will be broadcast free on unitedwestream.it. You can support the event with donations which will go towards the Music Innovation Hub COVID-19 fund “Sosteniamo la Musica”, promoted by FIMI and launched in support of the Italian music industry to cope with the crisis. 

The first session in this series of streaming events will involve creators, DJs and performers who represent five visions and unique offerings from Milan’s queer-clubbing scene: Plastic with Club Domani, Toilet Club, Q21, B Ballroom and Stefano Protopapa. An original approach to prove that there’s still plenty of life in Italian clubbing, a scene that has managed to transform itself through an exploration of alternative channels and formats, and is – through clubbing – a standard bearer for thought, values and content. 

The project is the brainchild of Milan DJ, Missin Red (Federica Zamboni), who was one of many to respond to the IED Creative Mobilisation for Italy call for proposals, launched by the European Design Institute (IED) during the first lockdown to back projects that would support the country through the enormous social change underway and carry innovation forward.
