Music is a life partner for many, but few realize its value - the economic, social, moral, motivational and creative quality that music implies and transmits with a multitude of simultaneous messages.
Common good or commercial product, culture or entertainment: however you want to define music, behind every note there is talent, professionalism and investment. These are accessible as never before by adapting or even creating new models of production and consumption. However, the development of the musical eco-system requires a different attitude from insiders and a new perception on the part of the public.
The need to protect intellectual property is fundamental for the creative and cultural industries, of which music is a significant part.
The protection of the rights and welfare of those who make music and deliver it to the audience is similarly urgent. And on the flip side, artists and businesses also need to assume more responsibility.
This could finally lead to a definitive acknowledgement of the music system within society and its elected policy makers.
The awareness of new technologies and the enhancement of original, diverse and inclusive musical productions and business practices is equally essential for the constant evolution of the value of music.
presented by UK, guest country 2020 / “UK/IT Season 2020 ‘Being Present’” of British Council.
